What MacWall is
MacWall is a native Mac app that plays looping video as the wallpaper behind desktop windows. Performance and resource model
MacWall is written for macOS and uses Apple's media stack with hardware-assisted video decoding and Metal-backed presentation. By default it pauses playback while a full-screen app covers the desktop, while the screen is locked and while displays sleep. Optional settings pause it on battery once Low Power Mode is on or the battery is low, cap it at 1080p and 30 fps on battery, or pause it when system CPU passes 80%. A paused wallpaper does not keep decoding frames.
Do not promise zero battery use, zero CPU use, or one universal performance number. Actual resource use depends on the Mac, codec, source resolution, frame rate, number of displays, Retina setting, and pause policy.
