MacWall's primary interface is the menu bar item. Everything you need during a work day — pausing motion before a call, switching a loop, muting playback — is one click away, and the main window stays closed.
What the menu offers
- Pause / Resume — freezes the current frame. A paused wallpaper decodes nothing and costs no measurable CPU or GPU.
- Stop — ends playback and restores your previous static desktop picture.
- Next wallpaper — advances through the active playlist or your favourites.
- Open MacWall — opens the full browsing window for the catalog, library, and settings.
- Settings — pause rules, per-display behaviour, Music Sync, launch at login, and license status.
Behaviour worth knowing
- Closing the MacWall window does not stop the wallpaper. Playback is owned by the background service, not the UI.
- Quitting MacWall from the menu restores your static desktop picture, so you never get stuck on a frozen frame.
- Launch at login is off until you enable it in Settings. With it on, MacWall restores your last wallpaper before you reach the desktop.
